Saturday is a Special Day

Here is my handsome hubby and his "guys". They are playing golf today in honor of finishing the first term of Physical Therapy school! And actually it is quite the accomplishment. There are 5 guys (including Erik) in his class that "have the same set of morals" and so naturally they have become pretty close(the 5th guy has 6 kids so no golfing for him). Did I mention that all these guys are married? Yep, so all the wives have gotten pretty close as well. It is fun!
Anyways, this is their "first tri-annual" golfing trip to celebrate NO MORE FINALS!
(for a couple of months at least)
Good Job Babe! You're our ROCK STAR!!
P.S.-That is our home in the background and we LOVE it!

(Sigh)

I can't comment too much on this post.
(The tears are already swelling up along my bottom eyelid!)
The picture is pretty self-explanatory.
Treven on his first day of Kindergarten in his ADORABLE uniform.
Such a BIG boy!

Arizona Wolf Spider

Or...as I prefer to call it the...
"Arizona make you poop your pants when you see it crawling across your floor spider"
What do you think? A much more appropriate name.
This bugger was about 4 inches long and had a grown woman (me) screaming like a maniac!
But by the time Erik got done with him he was swimming in a puddle of 4 inches of Raid!
Sayonara succka!
(oh did I mention that these crawl out of our drains after a monsoon?)
(or that we found one of these spiders hiding in Erik's pants?)
And yes, we do have pest control but apparently they can only do so much!
Please pray for us!!!
Picture courtesy of ME!!! Yep, this is the real deal. After he died of course!

Here's to the next 13 years!

I am sitting here at my computer trying to think of something clever to say about Treven's first day of Kindergarten but, I can't. All I can think of is how bitter sweet this moment really is! Treven started kindergarten this morning at 7:45 am and will be returning home at 2:30 pm. My heart is lonely and I miss him! I told myself that I wasn't going to cry, in fact I think that I was actually throwing a little party inside at the thought of only having one kid at home. Then it happened! We walk into his classroom, all is well. We find Treven's seat, all is well. His teacher asks all the parents to say goodbye and be on their way, all is well. I look at Treven to say goodbye one last time, all is NOT well! His big blues were staring right at me as if to say "Are you sure I'm safe here?" All of a sudden my heart overflows into my tear glands and water starts to drip from the corner of my eyes. I quickly give one last kiss and hug (much tighter than the ones before) and try to find the door through foggy eyes. I reach the outside and I let lose! I mean, I cried and I cried hard and I didn't care who saw or heard me (probably because I don't know anyone)! I hurried to my car and called my mom. We cried together.
What is it that makes us sad to have our children grow up?
Well Treven, here's to the next 13 years of school with many more to follow! You are a genius in our books! You will be missed at home by your mom (who feels like she lost a best friend) and by your true best friend, Maycie. We are excited for what you have in store and all the friends you will make! Take these years and make the MOST of them! Trust me, they go fast!
We love you!

Ummmmm...

...Treven, Maycie and I were outside blowing bubbles and one of them blew right at me and popped on my chest (you know what I'm talking about) and Treven says to me...
"Oh my gosh mom, that bubble just landed on your BIG (drawn out until he has no more breath)(inhale) booby!"
WHAT?
How does he know what a boob is?
Okay, so I guess he probably knows what they are by now considering that I fed Maycie with them for A YEAR!!!
But seriously, did the kid have to yell it loud enough that our neighbors over the fence busted up?
Really?
Gotta love him!

We had the privilege of taking another amazing family trip together this last week and of course I took as many pictures as you would expect from a mother and nothing less!!! And the best way I think to present them all without anyone contracting carpal tunnel from scrolling is.....a collage. Here ya go!

Maycie's Turn

This is what happened while Erik and I were on the other side of the nation! Maycie decided that she needed pneumonia. She also must have thought that it would be fun to ride in an ambulance and stay in the pediatric I.C.U. for 3 days! She apparently just wanted to be like her big brother who knows a thing or two about hospitals. She is all better now and back to her sassy little self. Thank heavens for miracles!

Awww...

Okay so I know that this is a little late but I had to share!

Portland, ME

Here we are in the coldest place on earth! No really, I have never seen so much snow in my life(Sorry Aunt Marilyn)! Erik and I took a little vacation to Portland, ME. Our purpose for the trip was something other than vacation but in the end it turned up to be nothing more than a wonderful vacation.

The Sweetest Thing

Treven came out of his room tonight after being in bed for about an hour. I totally thought he was asleep and when that boy sleeps there is NO waking him, so I thought this was weird. Anyways he comes to me and says:
"Mom, I am scared and I don't like it. We need to say a prayer so I'm not scared anymore."
So of course I agree and we walk back to his room and he climbs in bed and starts to pray and this is how it went:
"Dear Heavenly Father, Thank you for this special, special, special day. Heavenly Father? I'm scared and will you help me not be scared anymore?" (then he paused for a moment like he was waiting for an answer)"Thank you! In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen."
I don't know about you, but that is just about the sweetest thing I've ever heard!
